I started training with Vicci a year ago in my early 50s. I’d never stepped foot in a gym ( and never thought I would ) so I was looking for someone who could help with the very basics to learn strength and mobility exercises knowing as an older menopausal woman how important it was to my health and well-being . I have lots of physical issues ( back, knee etc) and had a real fear of learning how to do this type of exercise having never done it before - particularly those excercises or positions that were scary like being on my knees or laying down . I had a chronic problem with my shoulder which had led to limited movement and function. Vicci is the most open, warm and welcoming person you could wish to meet. She puts you at ease and any anxieties or worries about starting or returning to exercise.  She’s a positive force who encourages and motivates you to achieve your best you.  I never feel judged and always feel listened too, and some days I felt I needed to be listened too more than a work out. And she would give me that time. It’s not just about lifting weights or doing cardio for Vicci but the whole person. I’m very grateful for that. Every session was different which made it more interesting and fun. She encouraged me to challenge myself and to go that bit further every time. Getting fit is a serious business but Vicci made it fun too.

Even as a sporty young person, I never felt comfortable in a gym environment. I used to work on my feet in retail and hospitality, so that kept me active for a while. However, the last 15 years I have been doing office work and grown more unfit. I’d join gyms over the years hoping I’d feel more comfortable but always felt out of place and self conscious so would quickly quit. The pandemic was a watershed moment because I had become quite sedentary working from home, I knew I had to act. I was at my most unfit and least confident but something had to change. Given my history of exercise/gym environments being associated with negative thoughts, feelings and resulting in quitting, I was not optimistic and went to my first session full of reservations. Vicci reversed all of that! She did the impossible and made working out an experience I look forward to rather than dread. I couldn’t have found anyone better, she knew exactly what I needed- to be taught the basics, correct postures and techniques, building up my strength each session. She draws upon lots of experience to understand where you are and what’s needed to take you forward. The sessions were fun, challenging and mood boosting, you’ll leave with a sense of accomplishment that shapes your mindset for the day. On top of her technical knowledge and fitness programmes, Vicci is someone I loved spending time with, she is great fun and a big hearted person who I felt was on my side, encouraging all the way and celebrating breakthroughs.
